A low cost and small footprint microfluidic device which allows complex and automated chemical and biological processing with control through use of pneumatically actuated valves. Can be used for culturing of cells in an array of individual elements and detection of metabolites as part of the drug discovery and development process. Specific areas include clone selection and ranking, determination of cytotoxicity and production monitoring/process optimisation within manufacturing.
