Optical sensing using patches

Optical sensing using patches

Disposable and low cost sensing layers for gas and chemical monitoring. Nanoporous solgel layers can be functionalized to be sensitive to e.g. glucose, CO2, O2, pH. To extend the panel of targets, the nanoporous layer can also be functionalized with enzymes

What it does
  • Indirect measurement (color change)
  • In air /liquid
  • Sensitive layer – on the substrates
  • E.g. Glucose, Oxygen, CO2, PH, sensing

Benefit for users
  • Visual qualitative and photonic quantitative reading
  • Disposable low cost patches
  • Reversibility / drift free: no recalibration needed, online monitoring

Uniqueness
  • Flexible sol-gel technology on different substrates
  • low cost / compatible with large area manufacturing technologies
  • Biocompatible, Disposable and re-usable patches
  • Patches may be applied on 2- and 3-D shaped object (eg. foil and fibers)
  • Lightweight, integrable in a wearable analytic device
  • Higher flexibility than conventional probes
  • >Customizable dimensions and features
