DIAGNO – CEAS
Function: Analysis, Demonstrator in progress
Cavity Enhanced Absorption Spectrometry (CEAS) for visible region liquid measurements
This project is completed, please contact us if you want to have access to this demonstrator or for further information, contact us : hamelin@blumorpho.com
The demonstrator follows extensive research and IP (US 8,325,342 B2) by the RTO on the use of CEAS technology for liquid phase measurements. The technology will allow colorimetric detection to approach the sensitivity of fluorometric with reduction in the use of reagents and the potential for label-free analysis. The demonstrator will comprise a small compact CEAS spectrometer that will allow a wide range of absorbance measurements in the visible region with high sensitivity and dynamic range. The system will also allow a variety of sample holder to include micro-volume and kinetic measurements. There is no existing CEAS spectrometer for the liquid phase and so this is an entirely novel detection concept for liquids.
The demonstrator will be developed as a portable and robust system using Design for Manufacture and Assembly concepts that will be easy to operate. It will comprise a monolithic unit that will hold all of the necessary optical elements along with the sample holder that can accept a standard cuvette as well a micro-volume microfluidic device and system for kinetic measurements. The demonstrator will enable the company to evaluate and verify the CEAS spectrometer for a variety of liquid based absorbance assay in real-life scenarios.
